Frequently Asked Questions

  • How Often Should I Change My Oil?

If your vehicle uses conventional oil, you should have it replaced every 3 months or 3,000 miles. If your vehicle uses synthetic oil, you should have it replaced every 6 months or 5,000 miles.

  • What should I consider when buying a car battery?

Car batteries ideally last between 3-5 years depending on a number of factors. To ensure optimal performance and maintenance, simply have your battery checked by an ASE-Certified technician during every oil change - it shouldn't cost you anything.

  • What makes Certified Service technicians different?

Certified automotive technicians are held to measurable and strict standards in their line of work, and they are accountable to those standards individually. As their employer, Advanced Tire & Auto is also dedicated to upholding those standards of practice.

  • How long does the repair take and when will I get my car back?

We understand that every day your car is out of commission is costing you money. We make every effort to repair vehicles as quickly as possible. The best thing to do is to give us a call and tell us the problem.

  • What should I consider when buying an car battery?

Car batteries ideally last between 3-5 years depending on a number of factors. To ensure optimal performance and maintenance, simply have your battery checked by an ASE-Certified technician during every oil change - it shouldn't cost you anything.

  • I think I have a problem with my suspension?

If your car is difficult to drive in a straight line or it pulls in one direction, then you have a problem with your tires, your alignment, your suspension or all of the above. Other signs include a rough ride (feeling bumps in the road more than before) or excessive swaying when driving around corners.

  • What kind of Maintenance needs to be done to my car?

All car manufacturers provide a table of maintenance items in the owner’s manual that comes with the vehicle. We have this information also. Each time your vehicle comes in we will inspect it, check your mileage, and make sure your maintenance items are up to date.

  • My Check Engine light is on, what should I do?

If your check engine light is on, that is your vehicle reporting an issue. The light indicates that a trouble code has been stored inside the history in your vehicle’s on-board computer. You need to have that code scanned and interpreted; from there, the diagnostics can begin.

  • How often do I need a tune-up?

Most manufacturers recommend around 100,000 miles, but this varies from vehicle to vehicle and manufacturer to manufacturer. We can look up what is recommended specifically for your vehicle to ensure it stays properly maintained.

  • What do extended warranties cover?

An extended warranty is actually an insurance policy on your vehicle, a safeguard against expensive, unforeseen repairs. It covers repairs for an agreed-upon period of time and miles. True warranties, though, are included in the price of the product.

  • How do I know when my tires should be rotated?

Some tires wear more than others, so it is recommended to have them rotated every 5,000 - 8,000 miles.

  • My tire light is on, what should I do?

Your tire pressure monitoring system has detected low pressure.  It could be you need air, have something in your tire or the pressure monitor is no longer working. Stop in and we can quickly check it for you for free and let you know what is needed.
